Qualifications

• Detailed knowledge and experience in the practical application of law, legal procedures and police procedures surrounding crime investigations.
• Understanding of the judicial system and criminal investigations including interviewing and taking statements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare briefing material for team briefings, summarise investigating officers' reports and provide reasoned conclusions and recommendations for further action by warranted officers.
• Assist with the investigation of Domestic Abuse crime, including actions, offender processing, preparation of evidential files and relevant court appearances to reduce routine tasks for officers.
• Secure best evidence through thorough investigation, following a case investigation plan to inform prosecution decisions.
• Submit complete paperwork observing high professional standards within deadlines, ensuring evidential integrity of documents and data for case files.
• Interview witnesses and victims, assist with suspect interviews, taking high quality statements for case files and assess witness reliability for court.
• Manage seizure and viewing of CCTV tapes and analysis of information for evidential value to support investigations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and force policy (e.g., criminal law, PACE, CPIA) to ensure investigations comply with standards.
