Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a Domestic Abuse Case Officer in Colchester. The role focuses on supporting investigations and progressing domestic abuse cases, assisting warranted officers, and managing offender processing, evidence collection, and victim engagement.

DBS may be required, and 37 hours per week are typical. The successful candidate will have 1–3 years of work experience in criminal investigations, be skilled at interviewing victims and witnesses, and hold a Level 3

Qualifications

• Significant experience in conducting criminal investigations and supporting case progression.
• Proven experience interviewing victims and witnesses and obtaining evidential statements.
• Experience gathering, recording, analysing and presenting evidence within investigative environments.

Responsibilities

• Support investigation of domestic abuse offences by executing investigative actions and aiding case progression.
• Prepare case summaries, briefing materials and investigative reports with actionable recommendations.
• Compile accurate evidential files in line with force policies, criminal legislation and court requirements.
• Obtain and maintain high quality evidence through structured investigation plans and thorough evidence gathering.
• Interview victims and witnesses, taking statements suitable for court proceedings.
• Assist officers with suspect interviews and case-building activities.
• Assess credibility of witness evidence and identify evidential opportunities.
• Manage seizure and analysis of CCTV and digital evidential material, documenting findings.
