Job summary

Confidential is seeking a Freelance Document Controller to join our growing main contracting business, specialising in commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects. The role requires hands-on Viewpoint (4 Projects) experience and strong document control expertise across multiple projects.

You will work closely with project managers, site teams and subcontractors to ensure accurate filing, distribution and audit trails, while maintaining up-to-date drawings, revisions and handover documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' practical experience using Viewpoint (4 Projects) within a construction environment.
• Experience as Document Controller for a main contractor or construction business.
• Good understanding of construction drawings, document revisions and approval processes.
• Experience managing multiple projects or large volumes of documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and meet demanding project deadlines.
• Confident communication skills when dealing with site teams, subcontractors, consultants and clients.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for document control processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain project documentation using Viewpoint (4 Projects).
• Maintain drawing registers, document revisions and approval records.
• Coordinate issue and receipt of drawings, specifications and technical submissions.
• Track RFIs, design changes, approvals and outstanding information.
• Support project managers and site teams with document control across multiple projects.
• Coordinate subcontractor documentation, material approvals and technical information.
• Compile and manage O&M manuals, as-built drawings and handover documents.
• Ensure compliance with document control procedures and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate project records and audit trails.
• Liaise with project teams to resolve document control issues and maintain information flow.
