Sword Group seeks a detail‑oriented Document Controller to manage engineering, operational and business documentation. You will maintain registers, metadata and audit trails while ensuring timely access for stakeholders in a regulated setting.
The role combines office administration with system support, across document control workflows and records management. Four days in the office and one day from home in Barrow‑in‑Furness.

About the role: Join Sword Group as a Document Controller and become a key player in supporting how critical information is managed and utilised. You will help ensure engineering, operational and business documentation is accurately controlled, maintained and easily accessible. You will support a range of document control, records management, system administration and compliance activities, helping to ensure information is accurate, well organised and managed in accordance with agreed procedures and regulatory requirements. Your attention to detail and organised approach will be key to maintaining accurate records, supporting document workflows and ensuring information remains current, traceable and accessible.
You will work with a range of stakeholders, providing day-to-day support and helping to maintain consistent and effective document management practices. The role is based in Barrow-in-Furness, with a working pattern of four days in the office and one day working from home.
Previous experience within document control, records management, administration or a similar office support environment.
Good organisational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
An understanding of document management, records management or administrative processes.
Experience using document management systems or other business systems would be advantageous.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively while maintaining accuracy.
A structured and methodical approach to work.
Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to use initiative and work effectively as part of a wider team.
