Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Caisson Operative at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site in Plymouth, Devon. The role focuses on operating and maintaining critical dockyard infrastructure to enable safe docking and undocking of vessels.

You will work across naval operations, dockyard activities and national defence capabilities, gaining exposure to a range of technical environments. This full-time, on-site role offers comprehensive training, career development and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience in operational, industrial, maritime, engineering or maintenance environments.
• Ability to use hand tools and mechanical equipment safely.
• Willingness to complete role-specific training.

Responsibilities

• Operate pump houses, penstocks, caissons and control systems for docking activities.
• Monitor water levels, dock conditions and safety systems.
• Lead and support ship, caisson and gate movements across dockyard infrastructure.
• Assist with dockyard asset surveys, preparations, maintenance and refurbishment work.
