Job summary

Thames Water in Kidlington is seeking a DMA Performance Technician for a field-based, 38-hour week role under a 12-month fixed term contract. Salary ranges from £30,175 to £45,000 depending on skills and experience, with access to our Kidlington office 1–2 times per week.

The role focuses on ownership of DMAs, reducing leakage, data analysis, and delivering both reactive and proactive network improvements.

  • Take full accountability for leakage and network health across your assigned DMAs.
  • Analyse flow, pressure, and asset data to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support leak detection activity and unaccounted-for-water reduction campaigns.
  • Develop and deliver both reactive and long-term plans to improve network performance.
  • Respond to DMA points of interest and complete effective interventions that resolve DMA health/operability issues.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and contractors to ensure safe, high-quality, and cost-effective repairs.
  • Engage with customers and stakeholders, providing clear communication during planned and reactive works.
  • Continuously review performance data to drive efficiency and innovation.
  • Champion and promote a strong health & safety culture in all activities.

DMA Performance Technician

This full-time role as a DMA Performance Technician, based in Kidlington, offers a salary between £30,175 and £45,000, dependent on skills and experience. The position involves taking ownership of a patch of District Metered Areas, using insights and field expertise to maintain network health. Responsibilities include reducing leakage, enhancing clean water infrastructure, and delivering environmental improvements. The working pattern is field-based, providing autonomy and variety.

What you’ll be doing as a DMA Performance Technician

Location: Field based with access to our Kidlington office 1/2 times a week.

Hours: 12 month fixed term contract – 38 hours a week

Salary: £30,175 and £45,000 depending on skills and experiences.

The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role is:

Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring:
  • Proven experience in leakage management, water networks, or utilities operations would be beneficial.
  • Good understanding of clean water networks and distribution systems, water mains and associated assets, domestic plumbing and leakage behaviour.
  • Hands-on experience in field-based leak detection and network operations.
  • Experience managing both reactive and planned leakage reduction activities.
  • Experience in coordinating work or projects is desirable.
