Job description

The post holder will provide professional leadership, supporting strategic and operational objectives within the Division and Trust.

They will offer expert professional and operational support, ensuring effective nursing care by trained and competent staff. Our aim is to foster a culture of compassion, innovation, and challenge in patient care and professional practice.

The post holder will also ensure performance against local and national key performance indicators, maintaining high standards of care with a focus on patient safety. They will work to maximise service delivery efficiency, enhancing safety, patient experience, and clinical effectiveness.

Additionally, they will support optimal patient flow and recovery, preventing deconditioning and maximizing productivity. The post holder will provide cross-site cover and participate in the Tactical Commander On Call rota for the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Lead efforts with our operational and medical centre teams. Key duties include serving as a role model with high standards of professionalism, staying up-to-date with clinical knowledge, leading nursing contributions to site safety, and implementing policies aligned with our governance processes.

Represent the Director and Deputy Director of Nursing at external forums, provide expert advice on patient care, and act as the professional lead on nursing conduct.

Responsible for reports and recommendations to the Director of Nursing, preparing documents for the Trust Board, and addressing SIs, concerns, and complaints.

Oversee Trust business continuity activities, promote equality and diversity, develop Cost Improvement Plans, and act as the Emergency Centre lead for safeguarding.

Ensure professional and operational standards for Matrons, continuous learning and development for nurses, and provide support for the Medicine Centre as needed.
