Job summary

Carinity is seeking a compassionate Diversional Therapist to design and deliver activities for older residents, promoting independence, wellbeing and social connection. You'll work with a multidisciplinary care team to create meaningful, person-centred lifestyle programs that brighten daily life.

This role focuses on planning, implementing and evaluating programs, coordinating events, and maintaining accurate documentation to meet aged care standards.

Qualifications

  • Certificate 4 in Diversional Therapy or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in aged care.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety standards in aged care.
  • Training in Dementia care.
  • NDIS Worker Screening clearance or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement and evaluate Diversional Therapy programs for residents' emotional, social, and physical wellbeing.
  • Develop personalised activity plans matching each resident's cognitive and physical abilities.
  • Coordinate lifestyle events and on-site/outing activities aligned with resident interests.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with aged care standards and records.
  • Collaborate with care teams, volunteers, families and community groups to enrich resident life.

About The Role

Your Day-to-day Will Involve
  • Plan, implement and evaluate engaging Diversional Therapy programs that promote emotional, social, and physical wellbeing for aged care residents.
  • Develop individualised activity plans tailored to each resident’s cognitive and physical abilities, encouraging participation and purpose.
  • Coordinate and promote lifestyle events and recreational activities, including outings and on-site entertainment, in alignment with resident interests and preferences.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with aged care standards, including reporting, assessments, and resident records.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams, volunteers, families, and community groups to enhance the lifestyle experience for residents in a warm and inclusive environment.

In addition, you have;

  • Certificate 4 in Diversional Therapy or another qualification recognised by Diversional & Recreational Therapy Australia
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role in an Aged Care environment
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety Standards relevant to Diversional therapy activities and within an Aged Care setting
  • Training and/or demonstrated experience in Dementia care
  • Hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance or willingness to obtain
