Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a District Nurse - Community Specialist Practitioner in Manchester. This Band 6 post combines clinical leadership with expert community nursing to improve patient care in people’s homes and local settings.

You will require CSP qualification and RGN registration, plus a driving licence and access to a car. The role offers 37.5 hours per week with development opportunities within an integrated health and social care team.

Main duties of the job

This is your chance to be part of a vibrant team, dedicated to providing exceptional care to patients in the comfort of their own environments. In this role, your autonomy will shine as you assess and attend to the diverse health needs of our community, including delivering exceptional care to those facing end-of-life challenges and patients with long-term or complex conditions. Working under the guidance of the Nursing Team Leader, you'll leverage your clinical expertise to make vital decisions that directly impact patient outcomes.

Your days will be dynamic and fulfilling, blending hands-on patient care with the gratifying task of nurturing emerging nursing talent. professional oversight and ensuring the safety and quality of that care

Working closely with members of our wider integrated neighbourhood team, you will be part of an MDT approach to addressing the diverse wellbeing needs of our population.

You will hold therelevant CSP Qualification and have the required community nursing experience as set out in the job description. With patient centred care as your main focus, you will deliver our values and nurse with pride, respect, empathy, consideration, compassion and dignity.

The Community Nursing Service is a 7 day service with variable shift patterns available between 8am- 17.30 pm .

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that you possess a full driving license and have access to a car.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

What is a DBS Check?

A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role:

Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.

Enhanced DBS: Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role.

Enhanced with Barred Lists: Includes all of the above, plus checks against the children’s and/or adults’ barred lists.

Who Needs a DBS Check

The Costs for a DBS

At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.
