Job summary

Jd Group in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Operational Manager to drive safe, efficient distribution centre activities and lead a team of Managers. You will set objectives to deliver the business plan within budget and foster a One Team approach across Operations.

You will lead by example, ensure safety culture, manage KPIs, and collaborate with Planning and Head Office to sustain performance and growth.

Qualifications

• Managerial experience within a similar size manufacturing, processing or distribution environment.
• Automation experience.
• Worked with large teams and large scale operations.
• Multi-Channel experience.
• Proven working knowledge of Health & Safety and legal requirements within a distribution environment.
• Ability to interpret data and effectively apply outcome to the needs of the business.
• Knowledge of team dynamics and the effects of a positive working environment.
• Demonstrate the ability to coach, lead and motivate large teams to deliver results.
• Experience of working within set budgetary and performance targeted workplace.
• Able to clearly communicate at all levels (direct and indirect reports) delegating to the appropriate level.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example and ensure colleagues work in line with Company Standards and Health & Safety measures.
• Comply with all Health & Safety policies, ensuring a safe working environment.
• Escalate safety breaches or potential risks to site Management and H&S team.
• Foster a safety-first culture and improve H&S procedures across site.
• Support the planning and execution of operational strategy to hit KPIs within budget.
• Collaborate with Distribution, Head Office and Stores to align objectives.
• Maximise productivity, efficiency and quality through direct report management.
• Define headcount with Planning in line with the business plan; manage capacity and stock.
• Develop colleagues through probation reviews, appraisals, PDPs and candid conversations.
• Adhere to performance, conduct and absence management processes; coach and apply disciplinary steps when needed.
• Identify reward/recognition opportunities to drive engagement.
• Handle employee relations per Company Policy and legal requirements.
• Undertake other duties as needed.
