Job summary

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions, a business segment of Element Solutions Inc., seeks an experienced Operations Supervisor for its Ashby distribution team. You will lead safety-focused operations, coach teams, and drive continuous improvement to meet quality and productivity targets.

Hours are 40 per week, Mon-Thu 7:15 am–4:30 pm and Fri 7:15 am–12:15 pm. The role offers £33,300 starting salary, a performance bonus, pension, life assurance, health plan, training and 25 days holiday plus

Qualifications

• GCSE Grade 4 in Maths & English or equivalent, or through proven experience.
• Excellent knowledge of operational functions in a Distribution/Production environment of all MHE equipment and trucks.
• Previous supervisory or team-leading experience within manufacturing, production or a similar operational environment.
• Strong people management, coaching and team leadership skills.
• Good understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality policies requirements within manufacturing.
• Experience within the chemical, process manufacturing or another regulated industry is highly desirable.
• Qualification in team leadership and lean six sigma (desirable)
• IOSH/NEBOSH certification (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a strong safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with health, safety and quality requirements.
• Ensure operations comply with SOPs and process controls.
• Maintain audit readiness and support internal, customer and regulatory audits.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, customer complaints and operational issues, implementing effective corrective and preventative actions.
• Supervise, motivate and develop operational teams to deliver high levels of performance, engagement and accountability.
• Plan, allocate and coordinate daily operational activities to achieve safety, quality, service, cost and productivity targets.
• Monitor operational performance, analyse key performance indicators and take appropriate action to address issues and drive improvements.
• Manage staffing levels, attendance, holidays and shift coverage to ensure operational requirements are met.
• Conduct team briefings, coaching, performance reviews and development activities to build capability and maintain compliance standards.
• Manage employee relations matters, including absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance processes, in accordance with company policies.
• Ensure effective onboarding, training and skills development, maintaining training records and functional skills matrices.
• Maintain governance and control of operational documentation, including SOPs, risk assessments, work instructions and specifications.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leading structured problem-solving and root cause analysis activities to enhance safety, quality, service and operational efficiency.
• Ensure accurate use of operational systems and maintain reliable records, reporting and data integrity.
• Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders to support operational and supply chain objectives.
• Provide leadership cover and decision‑making support in the absence of management.
