Purpose and Objectives of the Post:

To conduct comprehensive in-house technical surveying and inspections related to repairs, maintenance, refurbishment, disrepair, damp, and capital investment on council homes and public buildings managed by Bury Council.

Responsibilities include ensuring properties are maintained in a reasonable state of repair through inspections and specifying effective remedial works, supporting asset, repairs, and neighbourhood teams with technical advice, and providing technical, budgetary, and project planning information to ensure high standards of service delivery.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Undertake pre-inspections, during works inspections, post-inspections, and quality control checks for various repairs and projects.
• Oversee projects and communicate concerns to the Contract or Repairs Manager.
• Conduct property surveys, identify building defects, and specify remedial actions in line with policies and standards.
• Prepare specifications for remedial works for domestic and public buildings.
• Ensure health and safety procedures, site safety processes, risk assessments, and CDM regulations are adhered to.
• Coordinate with contractors, providing necessary information and support for efficient service delivery.
• Support the Assets, Repairs, and Neighbourhoods teams with technical advice to ensure buildings are fit for use and habitation.
• Deputise for the Repairs or Contracts Manager during absences, overseeing service delivery and liaising with staff and departments.
