Job summary

Thomas & Dessain in Jersey is seeking a Jersey-qualified lawyer with up to 10 years' PQE to join the Dispute Resolution team at Associate or Senior Associate level, taking ownership of a broad caseload. The role covers civil litigation across Jersey courts, leading on matters, and managing commercial and contractual disputes, with opportunity to train juniors and contribute to business development.

Qualifications

• A Jersey Advocate with up to 10 years’ PQE, or a Jersey Écrivain eligible to be sworn in as an Advocate in 2026.
• Significant litigation experience gained in Jersey or another jurisdiction prior to Jersey qualification.
• Strong knowledge of Jersey procedural rules.
• Employment law experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Handle a varied portfolio of civil litigation matters across the Jersey courts.
• Lead on matters and act as junior in complex, high-value litigation.
• Manage commercial and contractual disputes, contentious trusts, estate disputes, building disputes, personal injury and clinical negligence matters.
• Take primary responsibility for client relationships and day-to-day conduct of files.
• Develop and train junior team members.
• Support business development and growth of the Dispute Resolution practice.

Our client, an established Jersey law firm is seeking a Jersey-qualified lawyer with up to 10 years’ PQE to join its Dispute Resolution team at either Associate or Senior Associate level.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dispute resolution practitioner who enjoys the variety of Jersey litigation and the local courts, with the opportunity to take ownership of a broad and interesting caseload.

The role will include:

• Handling a varied portfolio of civil litigation matters across the Jersey courts

• Contributing to the training and development of junior team members
• Supporting business development and the continued growth of the Dispute Resolution practice

The requirements:

• A Jersey Advocate with up to 10 years’ PQE, or a Jersey Écrivain eligible to be sworn in as an Advocate in 2026
• Significant litigation experience gained in Jersey or another jurisdiction prior to Jersey qualification
• Strong technical ability and advocacy skills
• A genuine interest in law and commitment to delivering a high-quality client service
• Strong knowledge of Jersey procedural rules
• Employment law experience would be advantageous but is not essential
