Dispensing Optician – Independent Practice
Surrey | 34,000- 38,000 + Bonus | Full-Time | Clinical Development
Are you a qualified Dispensing Optician looking for a role that offers more than just dispensing?
Perhaps you enjoy the clinical side of optics and would love the opportunity to develop your knowledge within areas such as Ortho-K and Dry Eye, while still working with premium products and complex prescriptions.
We’re working with a well-established independent optical group near Guildford that has built an excellent reputation for patient care. Due to their current Dispensing Optician relocating, they’re now looking for someone permanent to become a key part of their close-knit team.
This is very much a patient-first environment – there’s no hard selling or pressure to push products. Instead, the focus is on providing the right solution for every patient and delivering a genuinely high standard of care.
You’ll be joining a small but highly experienced team consisting of an Optometrist, Practice Manager and Optical Assistant, with the existing support team bringing 10-15 years’ optical experience.
The practice continues to grow year-on-year and has built a fantastic local reputation, with 200+ five-star Google reviews.
One of the biggest attractions of this role is the opportunity to become more involved in the clinical side of the practice.
They would love someone who can confidently handle complex dispenses and problem-solve, while also supporting the Optometrist with more specialist areas of patient care.
You don’t necessarily need to already be experienced in all of these areas – an interest in developing clinically is equally important.
You must be a qualified Dispensing Optician, but they are open-minded on whether you are newly qualified or more experienced.
Typical weekday hours are 8:45am-5:30pm, although the team will often finish around 5pm when everything for the day is complete. Saturdays are currently 9am-4pm.
The current Dispensing Optician is relocating and, although the practice has locum support in place, they would really like the stability and consistency of a permanent full-time DO.
They can accommodate someone immediately, but their priority is finding the right person rather than rushing the process.
If you’re looking for an independent where you can focus on patients, work with premium products and develop your clinical skillset, this could be a really interesting next step.
Whether you’re actively looking or simply curious, everything is completely confidential and there’s absolutely no pressure.
