Job summary

MJM Marine is seeking a Dispatch Operative to join the Production department in Newry. The role focuses on the efficient dispatch and loading of products and materials within the workshop, with forklift duties and collaboration with Stores.

The job involves loading/unloading vehicles, recording dispatched movements, updating barcode loading lists, and ensuring correct transport methods based on weight and size. Travel to nearby sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience working in busy warehouse environment.
• Counterbalance forklift operation is the primary requirement; High Reach trucks are desirable and training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the effective dispatch and loading of products and materials within the workshop and assist the Stores department as required.
• Load and unload delivery vehicles, containers and trailers manually or with a forklift.
• Collect completed items from production floor, inspect packaging quality and ensure safekeeping for transport.
• Record movement of dispatched items.
• Update loading lists for dispatch using a barcode system.
• Check weights and sizes to select appropriate transportation methods.
• Allocate completed goods to racks when ready from production.
• Sort and label items before dispatch and print new labels as needed.
• Travel to local suppliers or deliver materials to local subcontractors as required.
• Gather loading lists and pack products into containers for dispatch.
• General warehouse cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Address dispatch queries from other departments.

Job Title: Dispatch Operative

Full Time Position

Department: Production

Main Duties / Activities

• Ensure the effective dispatch and loading of products and materials within the workshop and assisting the Stores department with duties required.


• Loading and unloading delivery vehicles, containers and trailers manually or with a forklift


• Collecting the completed items from production floor, checking the quality of the package and ensuring that the item is safe for transportation


• Recording movement of dispatched items


• Updating loading lists for dispatch by using a barcodes system


• Checking all weights and sizes to ensure appropriately allocated transportation method


• Allocating completed goods to racks when ready from production


• Sorting and labelling items before dispatch and printing new labels where required


• Driving to local suppliers to collect goods and delivering material to local sub-contractors


• Gathering loading lists


• Effectively labelling and packing products into containers for dispatch


• General warehouse cleaning and maintenance duties


• Dealing with dispatch queries from other departments


• All other duties associated with the job title as directed by Management

Criteria

• Experience working in busy warehouse environment

Counterbalance forklift operation will be the primary requirement for this role; however, experience with High Reach trucks is desirable, and training can be provided where necessary.
