Job summary

Cappagh Browne Utilities Ltd is seeking a Discovery Technician to join the specialist Survey & Discovery team, investigating drainage systems and wastewater assets across Sussex and Hampshire. You will gather evidence, identify defects and opportunities for rehabilitation, and support capital delivery projects in a field-based role.

You should enjoy outdoor work, be detail oriented, and have good problem-solving and communication skills, with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Experience in drainage, wastewater, utilities, construction, or similar operational environment.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Comfortable using digital devices and recording systems, or willing to learn.
• Strong focus on safety, quality, and delivering accurate work.
• Experience undertaking CCTV drainage investigations.
• CSCS Card.
• Towing entitlement (BE).

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Discovery Technician to join Cappagh Browne Utilities' specialist Survey & Discovery team, helping to improve the performance of the wastewater network while contributing to environmental improvements across the region.

As a Discovery Technician, you will play a key role in investigating drainage systems and wastewater assets, gathering evidence, identifying defects, and uncovering opportunities for future rehabilitation and capital delivery projects. Working across the wastewater network, you will carry out structured investigations including visual flow monitoring, drainage surveys, CCTV inspections, network mapping, and flood investigations. Your findings will directly support initiatives that reduce environmental impact, improve network resilience, and enhance the service delivered to customers and communities. What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with a proactive attitude, strong attention to detail, and a genuine interest in drainage, wastewater, utilities, or infrastructure operations.

• Experience in drainage, wastewater, utilities, construction, or a similar operational environment.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Comfortable using digital devices and recording systems, or willing to learn.
• A strong focus on safety, quality, and delivering accurate work.
• Experience undertaking CCTV drainage investigations.
• Confined Space training.
• CSCS Card.
• Towing entitlement (BE).
