Finance Procurement - Safety, Risk & Compliance

We support conformance to mandatory requirements established by BP entities including but not limited to legal, E&C, digital security and procurement (such as category management policy and delegation of authority policy); that are designed to handle risks associated with supply chain activities, and ensure controls are in place and frequently tested.

Job Synopsis

Discipline advisor - your role will be key in supporting the global ABC Supplier Audit Program by ensuring timely and high-quality execution of audits. This includes collaborating with stakeholders, assisting with audit execution processes, and analyzing data to identify trends, key results, and actionable insights. Your focus will be on evaluating supplier compliance with contractual terms, including anti-bribery measures.

You will assist in conducting risk assessments, performing root cause analyses, and recommending improvements to strengthen risk management and compliance processes. Additionally, you will support the development of frameworks and tools while ensuring effective communication to aid senior leadership in addressing identified risks.

Your responsibilities will include supporting assurance activities to evaluate the efficiency of controls in mitigating compliance, and commercial risks. By providing data-driven insights and maintaining robust control measures, you will help improve bp's overall compliance objectives. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills will be crucial for driving supplier and internal performance improvements and supporting bp's second line of defense objectives.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Leadership Support by preparing insights and reports for leadership, suppliers, procurement, and business stakeholders, ensuring a clear understanding of audit findings, control gaps, and recommended actions. Support efforts to continuously improve the program in response to evolving business and regulatory requirements.

Risk Management Assist in implementing supplier audits by analyzing data, contributing to audit plans, and supporting negotiations on compliance and cost recovery. Conduct risk assessments and provide insights to improve procurement risk management and compliance.

Digital Proficiency Support the development and optimization tools and methodologies to ensure accurate, up-to-date, and timely data, reports, and dashboards for effective audit execution. Assist in preparing, documenting, and filing audit reports to ensure they are clearly linked to contract requirements and meet established audit standards for rigor and re-performance.

Stakeholder Management Support the development and maintenance of relationships with key partners, including audit firms, suppliers, contract owners, business users, and subject matter authorities such as Legal and Ethics & Compliance. Assist in ensuring effective communication and alignment across audit activities to achieve desired outcomes.

Analytical Thinking Support the communication of strategies and help with the effective management of the supplier audit program by providing data-driven insights and analysis. Assist in explaining upcoming changes to collaborators and supporting their adoption of new procurement and audit processes, ensuring alignment with risk mitigation objectives.

Job Functional Knowledge:

The role requires a solid understanding of the end-to-end procurement processes and systems. Good understanding of the procurement category policy and requirements. Sound understanding of bp's own ABC policy, procedures and controls. Effective stakeholder management skills across a global context. Strong project management skills to support the delivery of an audit program.

Business Expertise:

The role requires an understanding of the ABC regulatory compliance environment within which bp operates and the risks to which it is exposed. You will have a strong knowledge of the '3 lines of defence' model in the context of risk management. You will know the Ethics and Compliance concepts, in particular ABC principles and controls, and be able to apply the principles.

Leadership:

The role involves supporting program activities by assisting in the identification and mitigation of risks and contributing to the implementation of effective solutions. This role requires collaboration with team members and departments to ensure alignment with business objectives while maintaining a focus on accurate analysis and reporting. This role also emphasizes encouraging a culture of accountability and continuous improvement through proactive engagement and data-driven insights.

Problem Solving:

The role requires strong analytical skills, judgment, and conceptual thinking to address sophisticated audit challenges. The advisor diagnoses issues, evaluates compliance risks, and recommends actionable solutions. They assist in planning, adapt to uncertainties, and ensure effective implementation, providing insights that enhance decision-making and support organizational goals.

Nature and Area of Impact:

The role requires evaluation of supplier compliance with contractual terms, impacting procurement operations, risk management, and cost recovery. Their work identifies gaps, mitigates risks, and supports procurement teams, enhancing supplier performance and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Interpersonal skills:

The role requires strong interpersonal skills to communicate audit findings, and influence decisions. Building trust, leading discussions, and supporting change are crucial to align with business goals.

Job requirements and qualifications:

Minimum Education

Degree or equivalent experience, ideally in accounting, finance, procurement, supply chain, or business administration

Preferred Education:

Advisor degree or equivalent experience, preferably in accounting, finance, procurement, supply chain, business administration or equivalent audit qualifications.
