GSL Education partnering with a vibrant and supportive specialist school in Bovington is looking for a Disability Support Worker to join their dedicated team and make a real difference from day one. This rewarding role involves working closely with students with disabilities to ensure they have the resources, encouragement and support they need to achieve their educational goals.

About the Role:

As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide tailored, person-centred assistance to students with physical, learning, or developmental disabilities. Working within a structured and nurturing school environment, you will help pupils access the curriculum, build their confidence, and develop vital life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support tailored to the individual needs of students with disabilities.
  • Assist students with personal care, mobility and other daily activities as required.
  • Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavioural strategies.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere that promotes emotional and social development.
  • Monitor and document student progress, reporting any concerns to relevant staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to provide holistic support.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
  • A relevant qualification in education, healthcare, or support work is advantageous.
  • A patient, empathetic and resourceful approach to working with students.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to individual needs.
  • A patient, empathetic and nurturing approach.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Might have NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care / Supporting Teaching and Learning with Manual handling and basic medical training
