Job summary

Somerset County Council seeks a Family Intervention Worker to provide practical support for disabled children and families under Level 3 of the effective support framework. The role works within a Think Family approach and alongside professionals to ensure joined-up services that meet each family’s needs.

The post is fixed-term for two years, 37 hours per week, with a focus on strengthening relationships, building parental confidence, and improving outcomes for children and young people in

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and family relationships.
• Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of children.
• Ability to work with external resources, data and community services.
• Experience with children and young people.
• Ability to prioritise work and manage competing demands.
• Literate and numerate to GCSE level A-C/Level 4 or equivalent.
• Clear written and oral communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide focused, practical support to disabled children and families.
• Assess and plan meaningful, hands-on interventions.
• Work with Team Around the Child/Family to join up support.
• Collaborate with multi-agency partners across social care, education, health and police.
• Promote inclusion and improve wellbeing and life opportunities.
