Job summary

Maven in Taunton seeks an NMC/HCPC eligible professional to join our PIP Disability Assessor team. You will perform up to 3 client assessments daily by phone, video or in person, gathering evidence and drafting reports to inform DWP decisions.

The role offers excellent training, hybrid work options, and a starting salary of £42,000 per annum, with full-time or part-time options, generous leave, a pension and CPD support.

Qualifications

• An NMC registered nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) or HCPC qualified Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Occupational Therapist with 1+ year post-registration experience.
• Proactive and keen to learn.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Competent IT and computer skills.
• Comfortable working with a diverse range of conditions, including mental health.

Responsibilities

• Carry out 3 client assessments per day using telephone, video or face‑to‑face formats.
• Gather information and produce a factual report to support DWP decisions.
• Engage with clients to understand how their condition affects daily life.
• Receive comprehensive training and ongoing support to excel in the role.

What does the PIP Disability Assessor role involve?

The PIP Disability Assessor role will involve you carrying out 3 client assessments per day. A typical day will see you carry out telephone, video or face-to-face assessments to understand how a person's disability or health condition affects their daily life. Youll listen to their experiences, ask questions and use your insights to produce a factual report to help the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) determine their eligibility for benefits. That's the good news; the DWP make the final decision, you don't. Your role is to gather information and produce the report.
