Medacs Healthcare is recruiting a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor in Sunderland. This role is open to NHS-trained nurses or HCPC registered professionals (paramedic, physiotherapist or occupational therapist) seeking a non-hands-on role that uses clinical expertise.

The hybrid model combines home working with assessment centre days, offering stable hours and CPD support. You’ll conduct face-to-face and telephone assessments, analyse medical evidence, and write clear, evidence-based

Qualifications

• Active NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions.
• Minimum 1 year's UK clinical experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Confident use of digital systems and typing speed (35 WPM).

Responsibilities

• Conduct face-to-face and telephone PIP assessments in a professional and empathetic manner.
• Analyse medical evidence and clinical information.
• Produce accurate, detailed and evidence-based written reports.
• Work to defined quality standards and clinical frameworks.
• Engage with feedback and development opportunities.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative colleagues.
• Attend the assessment centre as required.

Are you an NMC-registered Nurse or HCPC-registered Paramedic, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist ready for a change from front line clinical work, but keen to continue using your expertise?

As a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor at Medacs Healthcare, you'll complete Personal Independence Payment (PIP) functional assessments to understand how health conditions affect everyday life. This is a non-hands-on clinical role centred on clinical reasoning, analysis and report writing.

The hybrid working model combines home working with time at one of our assessment centres, offering predictable hours, long-term stability and a healthier work-life balance.

What you'll do

• Conduct face-to-face and telephone PIP assessments in a professional and empathetic manner
• Analyse medical evidence and clinical information

What we're looking for

• Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Occupational Therapist
• Active NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions
• Minimum 1 year's UK clinical experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Confident use of digital systems (35 WPM typing speed)
• Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
• Experience in functional assessment or advisory roles
• Confidence in producing high-quality written clinical reports
