Job summary

Medacs Healthcare is recruiting a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor in Sunderland. If you are an NMC‑registered Nurse or HCPC‑registered Paramedic, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist, this non‑hands‑on role uses clinical reasoning and report writing.

The hybrid working model offers predictable hours, long‑term stability and a balanced pattern. Salary is £39,500–£41,000 p.a. plus OTE up to £47,150 with comprehensive training and support.

Are you an NMC‑registered Nurse or HCPC‑registered Paramedic, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist ready for a change from front line clinical work, but keen to continue using your expertise?

As a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor at Medacs Healthcare, you'll complete Personal Independence Payment (PIP) functional assessments to understand how health conditions affect everyday life. This is a non‑hands‑on clinical role centred on clinical reasoning, analysis and report writing.

The hybrid working model combines home working with time at one of our assessment centres, offering predictable hours, long‑term stability and a healthier work-life balance.

What you'll do

• Conduct face‑to‑face and telephone PIP assessments in a professional and empathetic manner
• Analyse medical evidence and clinical information

What we're looking for

Essential:

• Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Occupational Therapist
• Active NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions
• Minimum 1 year's UK clinical experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Confident use of digital systems (35 WPM typing speed)
• Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)

Desirable

• Experience in functional assessment or advisory roles
• Confidence in producing high‑quality written clinical reports
