Whether it’s comprehensive banking, managing cash flow, plans for buyouts, or Strategic Fund Solutions, we power ideas at every stage of their journey. From first-time founders to the funds that back them, and everything in between. We're proud to accelerate growth for our clients, create meaningful connections and communities, and open a world of global opportunity for entrepreneurs and investors alike.

The team you’ll work with:

A fantastic opportunity to join a growing business with multiple tailwinds, focusing on technically rewarding transactions with the UK and Europe’s most exciting Fintech credit originators and other balance sheet-intensive companies. The existing team has a broad spectrum of skills developed from experience working at IBs, rating agencies, specialist commercial banks, and Fintech loan originators.

The value you’ll add:

You will be responsible for underwriting and managing warehouse facilities for Fintech clients in the UK and Europe by leading key aspects of credit analysis, transaction structuring, term sheet/legal documentation negotiation, and obtaining credit support. You will be accountable for activities such as data tape analysis, financial performance analysis, and due diligence processes to design and recommend deal structures that satisfy client needs while balancing the bank's interests.

What you can expect to be doing:

  • Lead the structuring, underwriting, and closing of warehouse facilities by supporting the creation of credit papers, cash flow modeling, collateral analysis, term sheets, financial models, and deal structures.
  • Manage the end-to-end process, engaging with clients/prospects, internal stakeholders (e.g., relationship management, credit, legal), and external stakeholders (e.g., external counsel, credit partners) to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Manage the existing portfolio of borrowers and communicate internally to recommend and execute responses to changing situations for clients and across the portfolio broadly.
  • Manage deal teams, comprising VPs and Associates, providing oversight, knowledge sharing, and guidance on structuring, underwriting, closing, and portfolio management.
  • Build client and investor relationships in the Fintech and alternative lending sectors.
  • Develop, track, and deliver insights into asset types and industry sectors, demonstrating thought leadership.

Requirements:

  • Financial modeling and structuring asset-backed facilities.
  • Highly skilled at building cash flow models and performing collateral analysis.
  • Proficient with legal documentation.
  • Experience in structuring, negotiating, and closing asset-backed facilities.
  • Adept at working with large data pools to assess the quality and completeness of information.
  • Exercise judgment and authority prudently, balancing the best interests of clients and HSBC Innovation Banking.
  • Quantitative Bachelor’s degree, CFA, or equivalent education or work experience specific to this role.
  • Structured finance experience from investment or commercial banks, specialized lenders, asset managers, or rating agencies.
  • A keen interest in the technology sector and venture capital/private equity transactions.
  • Experience working with early-stage Fintech companies and startups is a positive.

Where you’ll be based:
