Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United Kingdom is seeking a Director of Technology to lead technical sales strategy for UKI. You will guide enterprise cloud adoption, partner with sales and cross-functional teams, and articulate AWS capabilities into measurable business value.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Director of Technology to serve as technical sales leader for UKI. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of cloud and generative AI adoption in UKI as a senior member of the country leadership team and the AWS Global Technology leadership team. In this role, you will provide the technical leadership and voice within the go-to-market strategy for UKI. You will partner with customers, AWS Sales, and cross-functional AWS teams to craft highly scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures that address customers' most pressing business challenges and accelerate the adoption of AWS services within Enterprise customers. Recognised as a trusted customer advocate, you will help organisations understand best practices for advanced cloud-based solutions — including how to migrate and modernise existing workloads — while translating complex technology into compelling business outcomes. You will lead a high-performing organisation of Solutions Architects driving transformational customer outcomes across the region. Your influence will extend well beyond your direct organisation — shaping AWS's technical strategy, contributing to worldwide leadership forums, and serving as a trusted voice at the intersection of technology, business, and innovation. Influence UKI's technical strategy aligned to AWS's global priorities, serving as the primary technology voice shaping product direction, go-to-market investment, and customer engagement. Anticipate emerging technology trends and position AWS as the partner of choice. Build mechanisms to scale AWS impact across industries and contribute thought leadership through whitepapers, public speaking, and media engagement.

Executive Customer Engagement & Influence

Engage at C-suite and board level as a trusted advisor on digital transformation, AI strategy, and cloud-native architecture. Build executive relationships that accelerate adoption and unlock new value. Develop compelling technical narratives connecting AWS capabilities to customer priorities — driving pipeline, deal velocity, and revenue growth. Formulate strategies driving broad adoption of AWS services and generative AI capabilities. Lead multiple complex, high-stakes customer engagements simultaneously.

Organisational Leadership & Talent Development

Lead and inspire a team of Solutions Architects, fostering technical excellence, customer obsession, and continuous innovation. Build next-generation technical leaders through coaching and development. Set high standards for operational management through goals, metrics, and planning mechanisms.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Influence

Partner with Sales, Specialists, Marketing, Professional Services, and Partners to drive revenue growth. Collaborate with global teams to shape the product roadmap. Operate as a senior leader within the AWS UKI Leadership Team, contributing to broader business strategy.

Basic Qualifications

• - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Preferred Qualifications

• - History of successful technical consulting and/or architecture experience with large-scale customers or enterprises
• - Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
• - Familiarity with common enterprise services or platforms
• - Track record of presenting and influencing up to C level across technical and non-technical audiences
• - High degree of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organizations
• - Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
• - Experience working in multi-cultural and international environments, and the ability to navigate the intersection of UKI business culture and global corporate norms.
• - Previous experience of AWS is preferred, although you should have experience in complex virtualized environments
