Job summary

HSBC Innovation Banking is seeking a senior professional to lead underwriting and structuring of warehouse facilities for fintech clients in the UK and Europe. You will oversee credit papers, cashflow modelling, collateral analysis and term sheets while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to secure successful outcomes.

You will manage portfolios, lead deal teams and nurture client/investor relationships across fintech and alternative lending, bringing deep structured finance

Qualifications

• Quantitative background with strong financial analysis skills.
• Experience in credit risk, cashflow modelling and structuring.
• Exposure to warehouse facilities and asset-backed lending
• Experience with legal documentation and term sheets (advantage)

Responsibilities

• Lead the structuring, underwriting and closing of warehouse facilities with credit papers, cashflow modelling and deal structures.
• Coordinate with clients, relationship management, credit, legal and external counsel to drive successful outcomes.
• Manage the existing portfolio and respond to changing client needs across the portfolio.
• Lead deal teams of VPs and Associates, providing guidance on structuring, underwriting and portfolio management.
• Build client and investor relationships in fintech and alternative lending sectors.
• Develop insights into asset types and industry sectors and demonstrate thought leadership.

Job description

You will be responsible for underwriting and managing warehouse facilities for Fintech clients in the UK and Europe by leading key aspects of credit analysis, transaction structuring, term sheet / legal documentation negotiation, and obtaining credit support. You will be accountable for various activities such as data tape analysis, financial performance analysis and various due diligence processes to design and recommend deal structures that satisfy client needs whilst balancing the needs of the bank.

What you can expect to be doing:

• Lead the structuring, underwriting and closing of warehouse facilities by supporting the creation of credit papers, cashflow modelling, collateral analysis, term sheets, financial models and deal structures
• Manage the end-to-end process including engaging with clients/prospects, internal stakeholders, (e.g. relationship management, credit, legal) and external stakeholders (e.g. external counsel, credit partners) to ensure successful outcomes
• Manage the existing portfolio of borrowers and communicate internally to recommend and execute on responses to changing situations for clients / across the portfolio broadly
• Manage/lead deal teams, comprising VPs and Associates from the team and provide oversight, knowledge share and guidance on structuring, underwriting, closing and portfolio management
• Build client and investor relationships in the Fintech and alternative lending sectors
• Develop, track and deliver insights into asset types, industry sectors and demonstrate thought leadership
• Financial modelling and structuring asset backed facilities
• Highly skilled at building cashflow models and performing collateral analysis
• Highly competent with legal documentation
• Skilled at structuring, negotiating, closing structuring asset backed facilities
• Adept at working with large data pools to assess the quality and completeness of the information
• Exercise judgement and authority prudently and with proper balance for the best interests of the clients and HSBC Innovation Banking
• Quantitative Bachelor's degree / CFA or equivalent education, or equivalent work experience specific to this role
• Structured finance experience from investment or commercial banks, specialised lenders, asset managers or rating agencies
• A keen interest in the technology sector and venture capital / private equity transactions
• Experience working with early-stage Fintech companies and startups is a positive
