Job summary

Moody's is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead globally distributed engineering squads delivering AI-powered, agentic software platforms. You will balance strategic oversight with hands-on leadership to define architecture, standards and delivery across React/.NET Core and cloud-native stacks.

You will drive technical roadmaps with stakeholders, mentor diverse engineers, and ensure secure, scalable software delivery across locations worldwide.

Skills and Competencies

• Proven track record of building and scaling distributed, global engineering teams, with hands‑on experience building and maintaining production‑grade systems
• Proficient with agile methodologies and modern software delivery best practices
• Deep technical expertise in modern software development practices and architectures; including cloud‑native architecture, microservices, and secure software design
• Experience with modern web technologies and languages is essential: React/.Net Core preferred; experience with Rust is a plus
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD systems and processes
• Ability to balance strategic oversight with architectural decision‑making and hands‑on team support when required
• Excellent communication skills with ability to influence at all organizational levels
• Extensive expertise in software engineering with AI, including agentic systems, with a track record of designing and delivering AI‑powered and agent‑based solutions that drive strategic transformation and engineering efficiency, and strong hands‑on experience using AI‑assisted development tools and agentic frameworks to lead innovation and modernize the software development lifecycle
• Demonstrated leadership in managing AI‑related risks, including agent autonomy, oversight, and security, while ensuring ethical governance and fostering a culture of responsible AI adoption across the organization

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred

• Build, scale, and lead multiple high‑performing engineering squads across global locations, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Recruit, mentor, and develop diverse, inclusive talent while driving engagement and retention
• Drive engineering delivery and technical roadmap planning in partnership with engineering, product and business stakeholders
• Responsible for end‑to‑end delivery of product features across squads
• Lead architecture reviews and design sessions, and define and enforce engineering standards and best practices
• Mentor engineers hands‑on through code reviews, technical workshops, and pair programming
• Apply AI‑powered and agentic development tools to streamline coding, testing, and documentation
• Partner cross‑functionally to deliver secure, scalable, high‑quality software through robust processes and quality gates
• Represent engineering in leadership forums and shape long‑term technical vision
