Job summary

GSK seeks a Director of Oncology Translational Medicine, Clinical Biomarkers to lead biomarker and translational medicine strategies supporting late-stage oncology assets. You will drive design and execution of biomarker plans, enabling patient stratification and informed go/no-go decisions.

The role involves collaboration with Clinical Biomarker leadership, matrix teams, and data sciences to advance precision oncology programs and generate regulatory-ready evidence packages.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent with 7+ years or M.Sc. with 10+ years of drug development experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a solid background in Oncology clinical biomarkers, expertise in late-phase oncology studies, and translational research within clinical development.
• Strong expertise in cancer biology and clinical development, including landscape and diagnostic approaches in solid tumors and hematologic malignancies.
• Experience in leading cross-functional teams and designing and executing strategic biomarker plans including development of regulated biomarker assays.
• Experience conducting clinical trials and working as part of clinical study teams.
• Designing and executing translational biomarker plans for trials and on-boarding innovative technologies.
• Experience collaborating with Data Sciences to analyze high-dimensional data to guide decisions.
• Hands-on experience with biomarker platforms (flow cytometry, NGS, FISH, PCR, IHC/IF, ctDNA, multi-omics).
• Direct translation of pre-clinical research to human trials including genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic analyses.
• Experience influencing teams and leaders with a track record of success.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with leadership to design and execute biomarker and translational medicine strategies for late-stage oncology programs.
• Validate and implement biomarker strategies for patient stratification, dose selection, and go/no-go decisions.
• Participate in tumor-specific Biomarker Matrix teams and work with internal and external stakeholders.
• Represent Translational Medicine in Clinical Development Matrix Teams to integrate biomarker decisions into study designs.
• Define biomarker priorities and generate evidence packages from real-world datasets and partnerships.
• Identify cutting-edge science to inform indication selection and enrichment strategies.
• Oversee sample testing plans and deliver high-quality biomarker data packages for regulatory use.
• Manage relationships with clinical operations, diagnostics, medical affairs, regulatory, and portfolio management.
