As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase, you will lead a technical area within the Commercial and Investment Banking Payments Technology team, driving impact across teams, technologies, and projects. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to oversee multiple complex projects and initiatives, serving as a primary decision-maker and a driver of innovation and solution delivery.

In this role, you'll promote impactful changes across teams and projects, managing complex initiatives and fostering innovation. JPMorgan Chase processes payments averaging $10 trillion, representing 24% of the market. We are innovating with new payment methods like JP Coin, expanding into new markets, and enhancing settlement speeds with real-time payments. These advancements require sophisticated technologies to meet regulatory standards and sustain business momentum.

Job responsibilities

1. Lead technology and process implementations to achieve strategic objectives.
2. Make decisions affecting team resources, budgets, operations, and process execution.
3. Ensure governance over coding standards, control obligations, and success metrics such as cost of ownership and maintainability.
4. Deliver scalable technical solutions across multiple business domains.
5. Influence peers and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.
6. Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect within the firm's culture.
7. Deep expertise in cloud implementations and security controls.
8. Adopt and integrate emerging technologies including AI and ML.
9. Implement reliable platforms achieving high availability (triple 9s or more).
10. Maintain a problem-solving mindset to address technical challenges.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

1. Formal training or certification in software engineering and extensive practical experience leading technologists in complex technical environments.
2. Experience managing and developing cross-functional technical teams.
3. Proven ability in hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
4. Experience leading products as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
5. Hands-on cloud-native development experience.
6. Expertise in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.
7. Deep knowledge of technologies such as Pyspark, AWS Cloud, Databricks, Java.
8. Experience implementing scalable platforms.
9. Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholder engagement.

1. Experience with code-level development.
2. Understanding of EMEA regulatory frameworks.
3. Adept at working across multiple time zones.
4. Subject matter expertise in payments.
5. Advanced degrees (Master's or Ph.D.) in software or data engineering disciplines preferred.
