Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking a Service Director - SEND and Inclusion to lead its SEND services and drive strategic leadership across health, education and social care for children and young people with SEND.

The role includes developing SEND strategy, commissioning, managing a senior team, and ensuring statutory duties are met, with a focus on improving outcomes and narrowing gaps.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant profession or equivalent experience.
• Membership of a relevant professional body or eligibility for membership.
• Significant experience leading an operational service with people, budgets and performance.
• Experience delivering policies and strategies within local government and public sector.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, safe and effective services to children, young people and families.
• Deliver support and challenge to schools and education settings, safeguarding public responsibility.
• Lead SEND services, acting as Senior Responsible Officer for the SEND Reform Plan.
• Develop SEND strategy, commissioning and multi-agency coordination across health, education and social care.
