Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking a Service Director – SEND and Inclusion to lead our Children's Services team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will direct SEND services, act as Senior Responsible Officer for the SEND Reform Plan, and provide high-quality support and challenge to schools and providers across the borough.

You’ll manage a team including the Head of SEND and QA Lead, driving strategic leadership, workforce development and ensuring statutory duties are met while collaborating

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant profession, or equivalent experience.
• Membership of a relevant professional body (or eligibility for membership).
• Significant experience of managing an operational service, including; people, budgets and performance.
• Experience of leading complex and major projects to successful outcomes.
• Experience of developing and delivering policies and strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership of SEND services, acting as Senior Responsible Officer.
• Lead the SEND Reform Plan and ensure statutory duties are met.
• Coordinate with health, education and social care partners to improve outcomes.
• Develop SEND strategy, commissioning and multi-agency collaboration.
• Champion digital adoption and stakeholder engagement across schools and providers.
