Job summary

St Albans School seeks an experienced Director of Safeguarding to lead safeguarding and child protection in line with KCSIE. The role sits on the leadership team and works with the Second Master and DDSLs to safeguard pupils and support families.

The postholder will promote attendance monitoring, liaise with pastoral staff, parents, and external partners to address concerns and provide appropriate support, while maintaining an inclusive, protectively minded school culture.

• Willingness to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post.

Director Of Safeguarding

The postholder is the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and is a member of the School’s leadership team, in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). They take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection, working closely with the Second Master to support the work of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs). The postholder is also responsible for promoting and monitoring pupil attendance, working collaboratively with pastoral staff, pupils, parents and external agencies to identify concerns and provide appropriate support.
