Job summary

St Albans School in St Albans, United Kingdom, invites applications for the Director of Safeguarding, January 2027 start. The postholder serves as the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and joins the school leadership team, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).

You will lead safeguarding, child protection, and attendance monitoring while working with pastoral staff, pupils, parents and external agencies to identify concerns and provide support.

The postholder is the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and is a member of the School’s leadership team, in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). They take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection, working closely with the Second Master to support the work of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs). The postholder is also responsible for promoting and monitoring pupil attendance, working collaboratively with pastoral staff, pupils, parents and external agencies to identify concerns and provide appropriate support.
