Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is assisting a well-regarded secondary school in Haringey to appoint a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Start date is immediate for a full-time, permanent/long-term role.

The DSL will lead safeguarding, work with families and external agencies, and ensure policy compliance. The ideal candidate will hold QTS or equivalent, with significant secondary school safeguarding experience, and strong communication and organisational skills to manage sensitive cases and staff

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
• Significant experience in a secondary school setting.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and legislation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the school's safeguarding provision.
• Act as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns.

• Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records.
• Provide safeguarding advice, guidance and training to staff.

Designated Safeguarding Lead - Haringey Secondary School

Start Date: Immediate | Full-Time | Permanent/Long-Term

Are you an experienced safeguarding professional looking for an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people? A successful and well-regarded secondary school in Haringey is looking to appoint a committed and experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join their team as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher with a strong background in safeguarding to take on a key leadership role within a supportive and successful school community.

The Role

As Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will play a central role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing and protection of students, working closely with staff, families and external agencies.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading and managing the school's safeguarding provision
• Acting as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns
• Supporting staff to identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding issues
• Working closely with external agencies and professionals where required
• Maintaining accurate and confidential safeguarding records
• Providing safeguarding advice, guidance and training to staff
• Promoting a strong culture of safeguarding across the school
• Ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are effectively implemented

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Hold a recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent)
• Have significant experience working within a secondary school
• Have a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and legislation
• Have previous experience dealing with safeguarding concerns
• Ideally have previous experience working as a DSL or Deputy DSL
• Have excellent communication and organisational skills
• Be confident working with students, staff, parents and external agencies
• Have a calm, professional and sensitive approach when dealing with complex situations
• Be committed to promoting the safety and wellbeing of every student
