Role Description
The Director of Quality is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of RMF Training’s quality management systems, policies, and procedures. This leadership role ensures that all training programs, internal processes, and client deliverables meet the highest standards of instructional design, compliance, and customer satisfaction. Reporting to the executive team, the Director of Quality will work collaboratively with instructional teams, compliance officers, and program managers to develop, implement, and monitor quality benchmarks and continuous improvement initiatives across all educational and operational areas.
Key Responsibilities/tasks:
Quality Assurance and Improvement:
- Develop, implement, and oversee quality assurance frameworks that support high standards of instruction, curriculum, and learner outcomes.
- Conduct regular audits, evaluations, and feedback cycles to ensure program content, teaching methodologies, and learning outcomes are aligned with industry requirements.
- Collaborate with instructional designers and trainers to enhance curriculum effectiveness, relevance, and engagement.
- Lead the SAR/QIP and associated processes.
- Act as the Ofsted nominee.
Compliance and Standards Adherence:
- Ensure that all programs comply with relevant industry standards, accreditation requirements, and regulatory bodies. (RISQS, NPORS, EUSR, NSAR, NOCN, Highfield, City and Guilds, SQA, AIM, 1st4Sport)
- Lead the development and implementation of compliance policies, procedures, and best practices across the organisation.
Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Develop and utilise metrics to monitor, evaluate, and report on program quality, learner satisfaction, and overall performance.
- Drive data-informed improvements and innovations, leveraging analytics to assess the impact of training on learner success and job placement outcomes.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams, including delivery managers, instructional staff, and executive leadership, to align quality goals with organisational strategy.
- Foster relationships with external partners, industry experts, and accreditation bodies to stay informed of best practices and evolving standards in adult education.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, engaging staff at all levels to contribute to quality initiatives and improvements.
- Lead professional development and training for instructional and support staff to elevate teaching standards, learner support, and assessment methodologies.
- Implement feedback mechanisms to gather insights from learners, instructors, and industry partners, using feedback to drive program enhancements.
Person Specification:
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Education, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Relevant teaching/training qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, TAQA) or equivalent experience.
- Relevant Assessing/Quality Assurance qualification (A1, V1, TAQA) or equivalent.
- Evidence of continuous professional development in quality assurance or educational leadership.
- Relevant qualifications in Rail, Construction or Equine would be advantageous.
Experience
- Proven experience in a quality assurance or quality improvement leadership role, ideally within post-16 education, vocational training, or adult learning.
- Successful track record of developing and managing quality assurance frameworks.
- Experience of leading on SAR (Self-Assessment Reports) and QIP (Quality Improvement Plans).
- Experience acting as Ofsted nominee or significant involvement in Ofsted inspections.
- Experience managing compliance with regulatory and awarding body requirements.
- Demonstrated experience using data and learner analytics to inform quality improvements.
- Experienced in carrying out observations of teaching, learning and assessment to drive continuous improvement.
Knowledge
- Deep understanding of Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF) and other relevant regulatory standards.
- Knowledge of curriculum design, adult education pedagogies, and vocational qualifications.
- Familiarity with accreditation standards and industry-relevant training requirements.
- Strong knowledge of construction-based qualifications.
- Strong grasp of quality assurance principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and compliance best practices.
- Familiarity with various awarding bodies such as (RISQS, NPORS, EUSR, NSAR, NOCN, Highfield, City and Guilds, SQA, AIM, 1st4Sport)

- Excellent analytical and evaluative skills; ability to interpret complex data sets and use them to drive improvement.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presenting to stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and influence across teams.
- Competent in using digital tools and platforms for data analysis, audits, and document control.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead organisation-wide initiatives.
