The Director of Policy, Influencing and Change will lead our efforts to shape policy, influence practice, and channel resources towards effective approaches to advancing health equity, including spreading and scaling our proven projects and ensuring our work has a wider impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic leadership of IoUH Policy and Influencing: Delivering and evolving Policy & Influencing strategy that embeds policy and influencing into all IoUH’s programmes, overseeing effective execution by the Policy & Influencing Team.
  • Strategic leadership of IoUH Change function: Responsible for a strategic approach to partnerships focused on scaling and sustaining effective initiatives, overseeing delivery of projects at scale and influencing local and national policy making.
  • Impact delivery: Overseeing development and delivery of strategies to support IoUH’s strategic aims, influencing decision-making, policy debate, and stakeholder practices.
  • Stakeholder engagement and thought leadership: Managing IoUH’s external presence, maintaining relationships with key stakeholders such as government bodies, councils, funders, and policy organizations.
  • Thought leadership: Acting as a thought leader in urban health and health equity, representing IoUH externally.
  • Champion inclusive leadership and be an effective member of IoUH’s Director’s Team.
  • Line management of key staff including Partnership Manager, Head of Policy & Influencing, and others.
  • Other responsibilities as needed to ensure successful role delivery.

  • Ensure consistency and identify synergies across policy and influencing work, using insights to influence policy and audiences.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on impact of activities to meet governance standards.

  • Comfort in handling uncertainty and navigating complexity.
