Job summary

KDR Talent Solutions Ltd represents a fast-growing software and technology business in the retail sector seeking an experienced IT Director to join the Executive Leadership Team and shape the technology strategy. Reporting to the CEO, you will lead architecture, roadmaps, operations, security and AI initiatives while guiding growth and transformation.

This hands-on leader will balance strategic vision with practical delivery, engaging with the board and senior stakeholders to drive performance

Qualifications

• Commercially minded technology leader with strategic and operational experience.
• Experience with Microsoft ecosystems (Fabric, Dynamics, Power BI), Azure, networking, IAM, ERP/CRM, AI, DR and security.
• Strong stakeholder management and executive communication abilities.
• Hands-on leadership with ability to execute as well as strategise.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the organisation's technology and systems architecture strategy.
• Deliver technology roadmaps through internal resources and external partners.
• Oversee day-to-day IT operations, infrastructure, security and system performance.
• Drive development and execution of the company’s AI strategy and broader digital transformation initiatives.
• Lead programme delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Manage technology suppliers and third-party partners, including commercial negotiations and performance management.
• Ensure robust business continuity, disaster recovery and cyber security frameworks are in place.
• Support acquisition and integration activity, aligning disparate systems and environments.
• Present technology strategies and business cases to the executive team and Board.
• Champion innovation while maintaining operational excellence and commercial outcomes.

Our client, an innovative and fast-growing software and technology business operating within the retail sector, is seeking an experienced IT Director to join its Executive Leadership Team. This is a rare opportunity to shape the technology strategy of a highly successful organisation that has built a market-leading position through a combination of innovative technology, operational excellence and customer-focused solutions. Having invested significantly in its systems and technology platform, the business is now entering an ambitious phase of growth and diversification, creating the need for a senior technology leader who can both define strategic direction and drive hands-on execution.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the IT Director will play a pivotal role in the future development of the organisation, ensuring technology remains a key differentiator and enabler of growth.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering the company's technology strategy, ensuring its systems, infrastructure, applications and data capabilities support both current operations and future expansion plans.

Working closely with the Executive Team and Board, you will have significant influence over business strategy while leading the implementation of technology initiatives that enhance performance, scalability and customer value.

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded technology leader with broad technical expertise and experience operating at both strategic and operational levels.

You will likely bring experience across many of the following areas:

• Microsoft technology ecosystems, including Fabric, Dynamics and Power BI.
• Azure Cloud architecture and infrastructure.
• Networking and enterprise systems.
• Identity and access management.
• ERP and CRM platforms.
• AI implementation and automation technologies.
• Disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Technology governance, risk and security.

In addition, you will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience leading technology functions within a growing business.
• The ability to translate technical concepts into clear commercial outcomes.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and executive-level communication.
• Experience managing suppliers, budgets and technology investment decisions.
• A hands-on leadership style with a proven ability to execute as well as strategise.
• Experience supporting business growth, transformation or systems integration initiatives.
• Experience managing significant IT budgets and investment programmes.
• Exposure to mergers, acquisitions and post-acquisition integration.
• Experience within retail technology, SaaS, payments, loyalty, fintech or related technology-driven sectors.
