Salary: £63,847, London £66,367 per annum Grade A plus benefits including a final salary pension scheme, generous annual leave, and flexible and hybrid working.
Location: London or Manchester (The role will be based in any of the locations listed; however, we are operating a hybrid way of working and support our staff to make use of remote working options when combined with regular on-site contact days with other members of the team, normally 1-2 days a week)
How can we better understand and explain the difference that investment in arts and culture makes to people and places? Join Arts Council England as our Director of Impact Integration and help us turn evidence into clearer decisions, shared learning and a compelling account of our impact.
Arts Council England invests in and supports the development of arts and culture across England. We have developed an Impact Framework to explain how our work makes a difference and to help us plan, learn and report more clearly. Based in our Enterprise and Innovation team and reporting to the Executive Director, Enterprise and Innovation, you will lead the practical introduction of this framework across the organisation.
This 12-month opportunity offers the chance to shape how we understand our impact, bring colleagues together around a shared approach and establish ways of working that will continue beyond your appointment.
You will turn the Impact Framework into a practical delivery plan, working across teams to agree priorities, responsibilities and measures of success. A key early priority will be coordinating our first Impact Report, planned for early 2027. Working with Communications, Research, Data and other colleagues, you will bring together existing evidence, explain what it tells us and be clear about its gaps and limitations.
You will test the framework with programme teams, develop clear reporting and data ownership arrangements, and provide guidance and training to help colleagues use it confidently. You will also prepare a clear handover and a costed plan for continuing the work beyond the fixed-term appointment.
We are looking for an experienced leader who can turn strategy into action and build commitment across a complex organisation. You will bring strong project and change management skills, an understanding of quantitative and qualitative evidence, evaluation and data quality, and the ability to translate complex information into clear conclusions for senior leaders and National Council members.
Your ability to influence and deliver through colleagues you do not directly manage will be central to this role, which has no direct reports. You will also bring sound judgement about the ethical, accessible and inclusive use of data. Knowledge of arts and culture or public grant-making is desirable, rather than essential.
Arts Council are committed to being an inclusive employer, building an inclusive workplace, and recruiting a workforce that is as diverse as the communities we serve. However, you identify, and whatever background you bring with you, we welcome you to apply for a role at Arts Council.
