Job summary

Cambridge University Press & Assessment seeks a Head of Journal Editorial Operations to lead strategic and operational development of journal editorial processes, ensuring high-quality workflows across submission, manuscript evaluation and peer review.

You will own the strategy and roadmap for editorial operations, collaborating with senior colleagues and external partners to drive improvement and integrity across the journals portfolio.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in scholarly journals publishing and strong understanding of editorial operations, manuscript submission and peer review.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage change across editorial workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own the editorial operations strategy, roadmap, governance and reporting framework.
• Lead operational improvements and experimentation with AI and new technology within governance structures.
• Shape priorities for online peer review systems, services and supplier roadmaps using evidence and external insight.
• Collaborate with Editorial, Publication Ethics and Research Integrity, Digital Publishing, Content Management, suppliers and external partners.
• Provide planning, workload and budget management while developing team capability.
• Monitor developments in scholarly publishing and peer review tools to inform strategy and delivery.
