Job description

Job Title: Director, Business Development and Sales – Northern Europe

Location: Guildford, United Kingdom (Ramon.Space UK office)

Reports to: Chief Commercial Officer

Type: Full-time

Ramon.Space is seeking a driven and strategic Director of Business Development and Sales to lead its commercial activities in Northern Europe, covering the UK, DACH, Luxembourg and the Nordics. This senior, hands-on role will be instrumental in accelerating revenue growth, cultivating strategic partnerships, and expanding the company's presence with satellite operators, spacecraft manufacturers, prime contractors, and system integrators across the region. The role is split equally between account management, strengthening and growing Ramon.Space's relationships with its existing Northern European customers, and new business development, winning new customers and programmes. It is focused on the commercial market, with the flexibility to support institutional opportunities. The ideal candidate combines solid commercial and financial acumen, a proven record of closing complex deals, and an established network across the Northern European space ecosystem that allows them to hit the ground running.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Account Management: Take ownership of Ramon.Space's existing Northern European customer accounts and act as their primary commercial point of contact. Build trusted relationships at multiple levels of each organisation, ensure customer satisfaction throughout programme execution, and grow each account through follow-on orders, additional programmes, and expanded use of the Ramon.Space portfolio.

New Business Development: Own and execute the business development strategy for Northern Europe, with a focus on winning new customers and programmes across the full Ramon.Space portfolio. Engage directly with commercial satellite operators, spacecraft manufacturers, prime contractors, NewSpace constellation developers, and other key stakeholders not yet working with Ramon.Space, leading the end-to-end sales process, from opportunity qualification and capture through proposal, deal structuring, pricing, and contract negotiation, to convert new opportunities into signed contracts.

Institutional Opportunities: Support selected opportunities with ESA, EU programmes, and national space agencies and their prime contractors, in coordination with the rest of the CCO team.

Strategic Partnerships: Identify, establish, and manage alliances, teaming partners, channels, and distribution partners to scale Ramon.Space's market reach and accelerate revenue generation, including European partners that strengthen the company's positioning with UK and European customers and institutions.

Pipeline Management and Forecasting: Build and maintain a qualified pipeline in the company CRM (i.e., Salesforce), covering both existing accounts and new business, with accurate forecasting of bookings, win probability, and revenue timing, and disciplined reporting to the CCO and executive leadership.

Market and Competitive Intelligence: Maintain expert-level knowledge of Northern European industry trends, competitive activity, customer needs, and technology developments. Serve as a key internal point of reference for market and competitor insights in the region.

Product Positioning and Sales Enablement: Collaborate closely with product and marketing teams to define and communicate clear product-market requirements based on Northern European customer feedback and competitive insights. Translate these requirements into differentiated value propositions and effective sales narratives. Develop go-to-market messaging and supporting materials that empower the sales team to engage customers with clarity, confidence, and impact.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders, including engineering, product management, technical sales, bid management, legal, export compliance, and executive leadership across Europe, Israel and North America, to ensure strategic alignment and optimise go-to-market efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Capabilities – what the candidate knows how to do
  • Strong financial and business acumen, supported by a formal academic background (e.g., MBA, or a degree in finance, economics, or business); able to build and interpret business cases, pricing models, margin analyses, and the P&L impact of a deal.
  • Command of professional sales methodologies and complex B2B sales processes, including opportunity qualification and capture management.
  • Advanced negotiation skills and a solid grasp of negotiation tactics and deal structuring, including key contract terms (pricing, payment milestones, IP, liability, warranties) and multi-party negotiations.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate market insight into actionable strategy.
  • Technical literacy in satellite systems, space technologies, or adjacent domains is a plus; deep product expertise is not required, as technical support is provided by the product and engineering teams. An engineering degree is an advantage.
Experience – what the candidate has actually done
  • 15+ years of business development, sales, or commercial leadership in the space industry or closely adjacent aerospace and defence sectors, with a substantial portion in the European markets.
  • Proven experience managing and growing strategic key accounts with satellite operators, spacecraft manufacturers, or prime contractors.
  • Demonstrable track record of personally leading and closing complex, multi-million-dollar deals with long sales cycles, ideally selling hardware, subsystems, or technology into satellite programmes.
  • Hands-on experience leading high-stakes negotiations with operators, manufacturers, and prime contractors, from initial term sheet through signed contract.
  • Experience building a pipeline from the ground up and developing a market or territory, ideally for a growth-stage or international company expanding in Europe.
  • Exposure to ESA, EU, or national agency programmes, proposals, or procurement processes is a plus.
Network – who the candidate knows and who trusts them
  • Established, senior-level relationships across the European space ecosystem (commercial satellite operators, spacecraft manufacturers, prime contractors, and NewSpace companies) that allow the candidate to open doors and generate qualified opportunities from day one.
  • High credibility and reputation with decision-makers, built on a record of delivered transactions; references from customers and partners will be sought.
  • Relationships within the European institutional space community (e.g., ESA, UK Space Agency, DLR, and other national agencies, and their primes) are a strong plus.
  • Active presence in key industry forums is an advantage.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Based in, or willing to relocate to, the Guildford area.
  • Fluent English; German, French or a Nordic language is a plus.
KEY ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:
  • High personal integrity and ethical standards
  • Self-driven with the confidence to operate independently, including as the company's senior commercial presence in the region
  • Ambition to contribute to the company's full potential
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams, disciplines, and time zones
  • Objective and multidimensional thinker
  • Courage to act decisively and take ownership
  • Willingness to provide and receive honest feedback
  • Resilience and responsiveness in the face of challenges
  • Self-awareness and humility, with a commitment to continuous learning
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Northern Europe, and periodically to Israel and the United States
