Director of Building Surveying – Confidential Client

I am currently working exclusively with a highly regarded property and construction consultancy that is looking to appoint a Director of Building Surveying to lead and develop its Cardiff operation.

This is a genuine leadership opportunity for an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor who is looking for the autonomy to shape a team, develop client relationships and play a key role in the continued growth of an established regional business.

The Role

You will take a senior leadership position within the Cardiff office, overseeing the Building Surveying team while continuing to develop the consultancy’s presence across the region.

The role offers significant scope to influence strategy, grow the team and strengthen relationships with existing and new clients. You will have the support of an established national business while having the freedom and responsibility to make your mark locally.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, developing and mentoring the Building Surveying team.

• Overseeing a broad range of building surveying instructions including technical due diligence, dilapidations, contract administration, building surveys and project consultancy.

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior clients and key stakeholders.

• Identifying and securing new business opportunities across the region.

• Developing the team and helping to shape the future direction of the Cardiff operation.

• Maintaining consistently high standards of technical and professional delivery.

• Working closely with regional and national leadership to support wider business objectives.

• Taking responsibility for team performance, resource planning and commercial targets.

The Ideal Candidate

I am keen to speak with experienced Chartered Building Surveyors who are ready to take the next step in their career or are already operating at Director, Associate Director or Head of Team level.

You will ideally have:

• MRICS qualification with a strong Building Surveying background.

• Significant consultancy experience within the commercial property sector.

• Proven experience leading and developing teams.

• Strong client management and business development capabilities.

• A broad technical understanding across core building surveying disciplines.

• The confidence and commercial awareness to operate at senior leadership level.

• A genuine interest in developing people, winning work and growing a regional business.
