Job summary

Westonbirt Arboretum - Forestry England is seeking a Direct Production Forester to lead the direct production harvesting programme, ensuring safe, efficient timber operations aligned with our district strategy and environmental commitments.

The post is based at Bank House, Coleford, Gloucestershire, with occasional travel to remote woods to support delivery of the programme. It is a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2029, 44 hours per week, with civil service pension and learning opportunities.

You will manage the Direct production harvesting program. You will be responsible for timber operations meeting industry best practices and health and safety regulations. Implement work programmes meeting the district’s strategic plan for the economy, society, and the environmental and collaborate with other teams.

Where you’ll work…

West Forest District is responsible for the sustainable management of over 37,000ha of the nation’s forests and woodlands in the West and South West of England. The postholder will be based at our forest office at Bank House, Coleford, Gloucestershire GL16 8BA with an expectation to travel to remotely located woods & forests to support the delivery of the programme as may be required.
