Job summary

Hill Care Ltd is seeking a Care Assistant to provide person-centred care in a supportive environment. You will assist residents with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility support, and meal times, while maintaining dignity and privacy.

The role requires genuine interest in caregiving, good communication, and teamwork. A willingness to participate in training and mandatory checks is essential, with opportunities to develop within a caring team.

Qualifications

  • Genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Team player with collaborative approach.
  • Willingness to participate in Vocational Training Programmes.
  • Satisfactory Police Check and check against the POVA List (where applicable).
  • Relevant Vocational Qualification (achieved/working towards).
  • Experience of working with the relevant Client group.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily living activities such as washing, toileting, dressing, and undressing while preserving dignity.
  • Support care needs including physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects with attentive, compassionate care.
  • Help those with limited mobility to use aids and stay as independent as possible.
  • Monitor residents who may be confused or have behavioral challenges.
  • Promote continence and assist in care delivery for residents with progressive illnesses or end-of-life care.
  • Record daily notes and follow care plans in line with company policies.
  • Support social activities and help residents enjoy hobbies and outings.
  • Answer Nursecall system and communicate messages promptly.
  • Report on residents' well-being under supervision of senior staff.
  • Carry out regular welfare checks and be vigilant for changes in condition.
  • Welcomes visitors and provides refreshments and assistance as needed.
  • Make and change beds; keep rooms clean and tidy; manage waste disposal.
  • Maintain and clean equipment (wheelchairs, hearing aids, etc.) and ensure overall site cleanliness.
  • Ensure clothing and rooms are cared for, labeled, and tidy.
  • Protect privacy and dignity of residents, including those who are dying or bereaved.
  • Assist during meals, accommodate swallowing or dietary needs, and help with serving and clearing tables.
  • Escort residents to activities, appointments, and outings.
  • Maintain integrity in personal and financial matters and respect resident rights.
  • Support safe handling and moving of residents and furniture where required.
  • Attend staff and client meetings and participate in relevant training.
  • Keep up-to-date with professional knowledge and competence.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies, emergency and fire procedures.
  • Report faults on appliances or hazards promptly to appropriate staff.
  • Contribute to maintaining the care home’s good reputation.
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Notify management of any absence in advance and return to duty promptly.
  • Support safety and security within the care home at all times.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures within defined time scales.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by management.
