Job summary

The Science and Industry Museum in Manchester is seeking a Digital Technician on a fixed term contract until August 2028, working 35 hours per week, including regular evenings and weekends. You will maintain exhibitions and help design AV, digital and interactive systems for galleries and events.

You will deliver reliable AV support for live events, set up equipment, assist clients, and maintain high standards of customer service while ensuring safety and inclusion throughout our public spaces.

• Previous experience as an AV technician or providing practical AV installation and maintenance to exhibitions, events or theatre productions in public spaces.
• Ability to deliver reliable AV support for live events from planning through execution and provide live audio, video, and lighting.

The Science and Industry Museum delivers bold, creative, and ambitious public programming and corporate experiences. Our Technical Services team plays a vital role in creating engaging experiences for hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. From maintaining interactive exhibits and digital displays to delivering the technical elements behind major exhibitions and commercial events, we make sure technology helps tell extraordinary stories.

We are now recruiting for a Digital Technician to join the team at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester on a fixed term contract until August 2028, working full-time hours of 35 hours per week. This role includes regular evening and weekend working to support the museum's programme of events and activities.

About the role

As Digital Technician, you will be a key member of our team and will contribute to maintaining exhibits, offering the highest standards of technical services to support the museum. You will be collaborating with colleagues, stakeholders, and contractors to design and specify AV, digital, and interactive systems for exhibitions, galleries, and events, whilst also assisting in the creation of new galleries and exhibitions.

You will provide high-quality AV and technical support for events, including setting up equipment, offering knowledgeable guidance, and resolving technical questions from both internal and external clients. Showing a high standard of customer service in every exchange.

About you

Joining us, you have previous experience of working as an AV technician or providing practical AV installation and maintenance to exhibitions, events, or theatrical productions in public spaces. You will be able to deliver reliable AV support for live events, working with clients from initial planning through event execution and providing live audio, video, and lighting.
