Job summary

Vitality is seeking a Digital Platforms Engineer to build, support and improve the infrastructure powering its digital applications. You’ll work across cloud, on‑premise and DevOps technologies to drive automation, resilience and scalability.

You’ll join a hybrid team with 2 days in Bournemouth or London, and contribute to platform upgrades and re-platforming initiatives while collaborating with development, network and third‑party teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience building and supporting enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure.
• Strong automation using Terraform, Ansible and IaC practices.
• Proven problem-solving skills across Windows, Linux and cloud services.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support scalable infrastructure and platform services across AWS and GCP.
• Automate provisioning and configuration using infrastructure as code for speed and consistency.
• Provide day-to-day engineering support across development, test and production.
• Investigate and resolve complex platform issues across servers, databases, and services.
• Maintain the DevOps toolchain, deployments, monitoring and CI/CD capabilities.
• Coordinate patching and security updates across the digital environment.

What this role is all about

We’re looking for a Digital Platforms Engineer to build, support and continuously improve the infrastructure powering Vitality’s digital applications. You’ll work across cloud, on-premise and DevOps technologies, driving automation, resilience and scalability while playing a key role in platform upgrades and re-platforming initiatives.

Key Actions

• Design, build and support resilient infrastructure and platform services across AWS, GCP and wider digital environments, ensuring they meet the availability, scalability and operational needs of enterprise applications
• Automate the provisioning, configuration and management of infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible and Infrastructure as Code practices to improve consistency, repeatability and deployment speed
• Provide day-to-day engineering support across development, test and production environments, balancing planned sprint commitments with incidents, service requests and wider operational priorities
• Investigate and resolve complex platform and infrastructure issues involving Windows and Linux servers, databases, application servers, server scripting and supporting cloud services
• Maintain and improve the DevOps toolchain, including access management, platform upgrades, deployment tooling, monitoring capabilities and CI/CD services used by technical teams
• Manage essential platform components including certificates, API gateways, routing and reverse proxy configurations to maintain secure and reliable communication between applications and services
• Coordinate server and application patching across the digital environment, ensuring technologies remain secure, supported and aligned with cloud and infrastructure best practices
• Work collaboratively with application development, network and infrastructure teams, alongside third-party service providers, to deliver platform changes and resolve cross-functional technical challenges
• Identify opportunities to automate manual activities, strengthen existing processes and contribute practical technical insight to the future direction and roadmap of platform technologies

What do you need to thrive?

• Proven experience building, supporting and troubleshooting highly available enterprise infrastructure and platforms
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP or other major cloud platforms, alongside Windows and Linux environments
• Strong experience with Terraform, Ansible or similar Infrastructure as Code and automation tools
• Good understanding of scalable and resilient engineering practices, including auto-scaling, automated failover and deployment strategies
• Experience supporting DevOps toolchains and CI/CD, with exposure to container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work across technical teams, third-party providers and changing operational priorities
