Job summary

Vitality is seeking a Digital Platforms Engineer to build, support and continuously improve the infrastructure powering its digital applications. You will work across cloud, on‑premise and DevOps technologies, driving automation, resilience and scalability while leading platform upgrades and re‑platforming initiatives.

• Proven experience building and supporting highly available enterprise infrastructure.
• Hands-on with AWS, GCP or other cloud platforms, plus Windows and Linux environments.
• Extensive experience with Terraform, Ansible or similar IaC and automation tools.
• Understanding of scalable, resilient engineering practices and automated deployments.
• Experience with DevOps toolchains and CI/CD; containers like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong communication and collaboration across technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day engineering support across development, test and production environments.
• Investigate and resolve complex platform issues in Windows, Linux, databases and cloud services.
• Maintain and improve DevOps toolchain, including CI/CD, monitoring and access management.
• Manage certificates, API gateways, routing and reverse proxy configurations.
• Coordinate patching to keep technologies secure and supported.
• Collaborate with development, network and infrastructure teams plus third parties.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual activities and improve processes.

What this role is all about

We’re looking for a Digital Platforms Engineer to build, support and continuously improve the infrastructure powering Vitality’s digital applications. You’ll work across cloud, on‑premise and DevOps technologies, driving automation, resilience and scalability while playing a key role in platform upgrades and re‑platforming initiatives.

Key Actions

• Design, build and support resilient infrastructure and platform services across AWS, GCP and wider digital environments, ensuring they meet the availability, scalability and operational needs of enterprise applications
• Automate the provisioning, configuration and management of infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible and Infrastructure as Code practices to improve consistency, repeatability and deployment speed
• Provide day‑to‑day engineering support across development, test and production environments, balancing planned sprint commitments with incidents, service requests and wider operational priorities
• Investigate and resolve complex platform and infrastructure issues involving Windows and Linux servers, databases, application servers, server scripting and supporting cloud services
• Maintain and improve the DevOps toolchain, including access management, platform upgrades, deployment tooling, monitoring capabilities and CI/CD services used by technical teams
• Manage essential platform components including certificates, API gateways, routing and reverse proxy configurations to maintain secure and reliable communication between applications and services
• Coordinate server and application patching across the digital environment, ensuring technologies remain secure, supported and aligned with cloud and infrastructure best practices
• Work collaboratively with application development, network and infrastructure teams, alongside third‑party service providers, to deliver platform changes and resolve cross‑functional technical challenges
• Identify opportunities to automate manual activities, strengthen existing processes and contribute practical technical insight to the future direction and roadmap of platform technologies

What do you need to thrive?

• Proven experience building, supporting and troubleshooting highly available enterprise infrastructure and platforms
• Hands‑on experience with AWS, GCP or other major cloud platforms, alongside Windows and Linux environments
• Strong experience with Terraform, Ansible or similar Infrastructure as Code and automation tools
• Good understanding of scalable and resilient engineering practices, including auto‑scaling, automated failover and deployment strategies
• Experience supporting DevOps toolchains and CI/CD, with exposure to container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong communication, collaboration and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work across technical teams, third‑party providers and changing operational priorities
