Job summary

Vitality is seeking an Associate Digital Platform Engineer to support and develop our hybrid cloud environment. You’ll help maintain resilient, scalable infrastructure services while gaining hands-on experience across cloud technologies, automation, operating systems and DevOps practices.

Work alongside experienced engineers on operational support, upgrades and migrations. The role focuses on automation through infrastructure as code, platform improvements and enhancing the DevOps toolchain.

Qualifications

• A genuine interest in automation, cloud technologies and continuous learning.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code concepts and tools.
• Some experience managing Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of AWS or GCP infrastructure management and exposure to Python, Java, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Bash or the AWS CLI would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operation and maintenance of services across Vitality's hybrid cloud environment.
• Follow established processes and standards to complete operational tasks.
• Investigate issues affecting platform services and contribute to resolution.
• Create and maintain tools to improve operational efficiency and service reliability.
• Assist with certificate management, API gateway management and reverse proxy management.

What This Role is All About

We're looking for an Associate Digital Platform Engineer to join the Digital Operations team and support the operation and development of Vitality's hybrid cloud environment. The role will help maintain resilient, scalable and repeatable infrastructure services while building practical experience across cloud technologies, automation, operating systems and DevOps practices. Working alongside experienced engineers, the role will contribute to operational support, platform improvements, infrastructure upgrades and service migrations.

What You'll be Doing

• Support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of services across Vitality's hybrid cloud environment
• Complete operational tasks with guidance, following established processes and technical standards
• Investigate and report issues affecting platform services, contributing to effective troubleshooting and resolution
• Create and maintain tools and processes that improve operational efficiency and service reliability
• Support certificate management, API gateway management and reverse proxy management processes
• Contribute to infrastructure upgrades, platform migrations and technical implementation activity
• Assist with the management, maintenance and improvement of the DevOps toolchain and user access
• Work with the team to identify opportunities for greater automation through infrastructure as code
• Contribute to the design and delivery of straightforward platform services
• Build practical knowledge of cloud operations, application platforms and service design principles

What do you need to thrive?

• A genuine interest in automation, cloud technologies and continuous learning
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code concepts and tools such as Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, YAML or JSON
• Some experience managing Windows and Linux operating systems
• Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage competing tasks effectivelyClear written and verbal communication skills
• A constructive approach to feedback and continuous improvement
• Knowledge of AWS or GCP infrastructure management and exposure to Python, Java, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Bash or the AWS CLI would be advantageous
• A relevant computing degree or equivalent experience within an IT environment
