Digital Planning Director

About the role:

Are you looking to join a high-performance experienced team, whose ambition is to be the most distinctive and admired data-driven, Digital Planning team in the UK?


This is your opportunity to accelerate our clients' digital and data transformation strategy whilst developing our Digital Planning IP within Wavemaker.


This role will suit candidates with deep digital or performance marketing expertise, with a strong track record of quality and innovation in implementational planning or activation. The role is stretching, giving candidates responsibility for the advancement of a client group’s whole Digital marketing output and the fitness of our operating model to deliver this.


In this role, you will:
  1. Support the Digital Planning Lead to audit our clients' digital maturity, through the WM-Operating System and Digital Maturity Framework, delivering indicators and actions that drive growth and ensure our clients are future-fit.
  2. Work with the digital planning lead and Nexus activation teams to support the leadership of overall digital channel investment, ensuring WM commercial considerations are integrated.
  3. Collaborate with Wavemaker product owners and Data Partners to ensure the right capabilities and technology are in place to advance Digital marketing.
  4. Coordinate with Data & Tech teams and identify new opportunities to enhance our clients through Digital Analytics solutions.
  5. Work upstream with Strategy & Planning to translate outputs from Provocative Planning into credible Digital marketing approaches.
  6. Work downstream with Platform Leads and Nexus Activation teams to activate Digital channel approaches with rigour and innovation.
  7. Support the digital lead in integrating Digital channels into weekly/monthly client updates, including Ecommerce, Affiliates, and OneSearch (PPC & SEO).
  8. Promote a fluid working approach with Platform activation resources within each client hub.
  9. Be accountable to the Digital Planning Lead and Partner for the timely, high-quality delivery of digital marketing.
  10. Assist in new business pitches by providing strong Digital solutions for RFI, RFP, and presentations.

  • Digital Channel Strategic Thinking and Planning: Demonstrate interest in client challenges, gather insights, challenge briefs, and understand digital campaign strategies.
  • Technical Knowledge of Products and Communication: Understand Xaxis, Nexus, and Finecast offerings, discuss digital channels confidently, and apply knowledge effectively.
  • Commercial Acumen: Understand agency finance, ensure financial management excellence, and understand trading strategies.
  • Digital Industry Knowledge: Recognize themes in digital media, platforms, and analytics, and summarize industry findings.
  • Ideas Creation: Demonstrate curiosity, contribute ideas, and be willing to try innovative solutions.
