Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent in digital/operational management.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Leadership, digital service management or programme and project management qualification (PRINCE2/MSP/AGILE/ITIL) or substantial equivalent experience.
  • Training in digital transformation, service improvement or technical specialism.
  • Professional registration (e.g. FEDIP, BCS) or advanced qualifications.

Job overview

Can you provide strong operational leadership across digital programmes and projects? Are you a digital leader who can manage a portfolio, shape delivery and make a difference?

We are looking for an experienced Digital Operations Manager to provide senior operational leadership within our Digital Services team.

This is a key role responsible for the effective management and coordination of resources across the Digital resource hub in the Digital Service Operations and Governance team.

The post holder will ensure that the right people and capacity are aligned to deliver digitally enabled organisational priorities in our HIMSS EMRAM Level 7 organisation.

Main duties of the job

Working with senior digital, clinical and corporate colleagues, you will support the effective planning and delivery of a portfolio of digital programmes, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that delivery issues, risks and dependencies are identified and managed.

You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust governance and reporting arrangements, providing clear and accurate information on programme performance, risks, resource capacity and delivery confidence.

With responsibility for resources supporting a portfolio of projects with an overall value of several million pounds annually, you will ensure that workforce capacity is effectively planned and deployed in line with organisational priorities and demand to deliver CUH strategy and business as usual digital capability.

Interviews are due to be held on 4th November 2026.

All appointments with a start date on or after 1 October 2026 will be subject to a 12-week probationary period. This provides a structured and supportive period to help you settle into your role, with regular reviews and feedback.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree OR equivalent highly developed knowledge at Masters level in digital/operational management
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Leadership, digital service management or programme and project management qualification (such as PRINCE2/MSP/AGILE/ITIL) or substantial equivalent experience (A/I)
  • Training in digital transformation, service improvement or technical specialism

Experience
  • Demonstratable senior experience of leading digital operations and programme management in a large complex healthcare or public sector organisation.
  • Senior experience in digital operations, digital performance management and large scale complex digital programmes
  • Experience utilising and embedding programme governance frameworks (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, Agile at scale)
  • Experience leading strategic digital or technology enabled change
  • Extensive experience shaping and managing large-scale digital portfolios and programme management functions (A/I)
  • Experience working within the NHS or public sector digital environment
