Job summary

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is seeking a Communications Officer (Digital Media) to craft content for the council’s digital channels, including press releases, social media, and the borough magazine.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in public or third-sector communications, exceptional writing skills, and the ability to engage residents. The role is based in Welwyn Garden City with hybrid working and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience in a communications role within the public sector or charities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write press releases and copy for digital channels.

Responsibilities

• Write press releases and copy for the borough magazine, social media channels, weekly staff e-newsletter and One Welwyn Hatfield website.
• Produce high‑quality content across the Council’s digital channels to engage residents and raise the council’s profile.
• Develop social media campaigns and drive engagement with scroll-stopping content.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure messages are communicated effectively.
