The Venue

The AO Arena has welcomed over 30million guests and thousands of World-renowned artists since opening its doors in 1997. It has played a vital role in shaping Manchester’s music scene and has supported artists from back-rooms to main stage. With its £50million redevelopment, the new look AO Arena will attract more artists and more fans, for many years to come.

About The Role

As part of the AO Arena Venue Team, this role will help elevate one of the UK’s most iconic venues to new heights. Capitalising on the current milestone year of 30 years in operation, this role will help define and execute a digital marketing strategy for the AO Arena that champions the venue’s rich heritage and future-proofs it for the next 30.

We’re looking for energy, creativity and passion. We need a strong digital force to lead our online brand and position, shaking up the execution of the AO Arena’s digital marketing strategy. In doing so, this role will be responsible for crafting content creation with fans, artists and partners, growing our online community and reporting on digital performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • To develop and implement a digital marketing strategy that reflects the AO Arena’s long-standing identity
  • Build brand equity that aligns with internal and commercial communications objectives
  • Ensure consistency of tone, look and messaging across all digital platforms
  • Lead the creation of social media content on a show-by-show basis
  • Monitor trends and react in real-time to relevant cultural entertainment moments
  • Regularly report on performance, engagement and growth across social media
  • Work cross-functionally with partnerships, food & beverage and event operations to deliver internal communications
  • Positively contribute to a creative, curious and collaborative team culture

We Are Looking For Someone With

  • Proven experience in digital marketing, ideally within the live events industry
  • Proficient in social media trends, tools and analysis
  • Exceptional story-telling skills, both visual and written, with an eye for engaging content
  • Experience in growing social communities
  • Confidence in using insights to drive commercial decisions
  • Familiarity with creative tools such as Adobe Suite and video editing
  • Highly organized with excellent project management skills
  • A passion for live events and Manchester’s cultural scene
  • A can-do attitude and strong sense of initiative
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and turnarounds
  • Flexible working approach that flexes across office work and content creation at show nights, outside of typical working hours
